Welcome to the website of the Los Angeles County Organization of Police and Sheriffs (LACOPS). We represent over 30,000 police officers in Los Angeles County. The purpose of our website is to educate the public about concerns facing our law enforcement professionals today. Our members risk their lives every day to keep the public safe, a job few people can do or want to do. It is a difficult job that takes a toll on every officer, physically and emotionally. We owe it to them to ensure they have the tools to do their job effectively, that they have the legal protections to enforce the laws and that they be reasonably compensated with fair wages and adequate pensions.
Legislation is a key component to ensure public safety remains the top priority of our elected officials. Our endorsement of legislators is dependent upon their commitment to public safety: protecting the innocent, protecting our children and the elderly and support for the men and women of law enforcement.
